The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) reminds the public not to receive messages sent by scammers posing as senior executives such as the SFC Chairman。

Recently, a member of the public reported to the SFC that they had received a short message on WhatsApp claiming to be Mr. Lei Dingming, Chairman of the SFC, and Mr. Leung Lee Ko, Executive Director of the Market Inspection Department.。According to their report, the text messages contained comments on specific stocks.。

The SFC noted that these instant text messages were fraudulent and that the SFC would take firm action against fraudsters who attempted to defraud on behalf of SFC staff.。

The SFC also called on the public to beware of fraud and to avoid remittance if a person claiming to be an employee of the SFC requests a remittance.。Members of the public may contact the SFC via email if they have any questions。

Currently, the regulator has referred the case to the police。
