Mazda announces it will use Tesla's NACS charging plug in North America
Tesla (TSLA) is estimated to generate about $2 billion in revenue from NACS-related deals, but is still close to its recent losses from competitive pressures that forced it to cut prices in China.。
Mazda officially announced an agreement with Tesla (TSLA) to adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging interface developed by Tesla on its upcoming all-electric models in the North American market from 2025。The agreement also includes the right for Mazda electric vehicles to be able to use more than 15,000 Tesla supercharging stations.。
Mazda's decision is in line with a shift to NACS across the electric vehicle industry, a shift that began with decisions announced by Ford and General Motors a year ago.。
Currently, Mazda has not yet launched an all-electric vehicle, but it is expected to launch a new model in 2025, which may be the first Mazda pure electric vehicle (BEV) equipped with a new NACS charging interface.。
There is no specific information on whether plug-in hybrid models will use NACS to replace the current SAE J1772 interface for AC charging.。As for whether the Mazda MX-30, which is sold in the United States, will be offered an adapter, it has not been disclosed。Some super charging stations are installing built-in CCS1 adapters, so even without adapters, MX-30 can be charged at these stations。
