The FMA said it was aware that a number of people claiming to represent the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) contacted a New Zealand resident under the guise of assisting in the recovery of money lost in previous scams.。
The email address used (harry.stone @ fcafinances.com) are different from the email domains used by the FCA, including:
- fca.org.uk
- fcanewsletters.org.uk
- fcamails.org.uk
The FMA said it feared it was a money recovery scam in the name of the FCA and advised caution when dealing with any individual who claimed to be from the authorities and expressed a willingness to help recover the money.。
