Taheer Sardar sentenced to 18 months for perverting justice
Taheer Sardar was sentenced to 18 months in prison for obstructing justice at Southwark Crown Court.
At the Southwark Crown Court, Taheer Sardar was sentenced to 18 months in prison for perverting the course of justice, with the defendant pleading guilty on May 7, 2024.
Mr. Sardar was interviewed by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in an investigation involving a complex boiler room fraud defrauding 120 investors of £1.3 million. Subsequently, three individuals, Mr. Mirza, Mr. Solaja, and Mr. Vickers, were prosecuted by the FCA for their involvement in the fraud and sentenced to 23 years in prison.
During the interview, Mr. Sardar conspired with Mr. Mirza to provide a forged document purportedly signed by "Mohammed Khan." Mr. Sardar attempted to use this document to support the defense put forth by Raheel Mirza and Opeyemi Solaja, who claimed—without evidence—that someone named "Mohammed Khan" was the mastermind behind their fraudulent activities.
While the FCA did not find Mr. Sardar involved in the fraud itself, he provided the forged document to mislead the FCA.
On May 10, 2024, Judge Recorder Gavaghan remarked in Mr. Sardar's sentencing, "This was a carefully orchestrated attempt to pervert the course of justice using forged documents, a very serious offense that strikes at the heart of the legal system."
