Internet reports that the U.S. consumer advocacy group Public Citizen has called on U.S. government officials to investigate Trump's promotion of his Memecoin on social media. On February 5, citizens organizations sent letters to John Keller, head of the Public Integrity Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and David Whitma, director of the Office of Government Ethics (OGE), accusing Trump of violating the law by accepting gifts while serving as President of the United States. The group urged officials to investigate TRUMP memecoin and whether foreign government actors might have purchased the token.
