Trump administration agrees to temporarily restrict DOGE's access to the Treasury Department's payment system "
Internet reports that prosecutors of the U.S. Department of Justice have agreed to temporarily restrict access to information in the Treasury Department's payment system by Musk. Earlier, a group of union members and retirees sued the Treasury Department, alleging that providing DOGE with access to the federal government's vast collection and payment system and the personal data information stored therein violated federal privacy laws. The Trump administration filed a motion on Wednesday night seeking to sign a proposed order detailing the terms that have been agreed upon. The proposed order states that "the defendant will not provide access to any payment records or payment systems maintained by or within the U.S. Bureau of Financial Services." The order allows exceptions to allow two special government employees within the Treasury Department (Tom Krause and Marco Elez) to access these records "on demand" while performing their duties, but such access is limited to "read-only".
