Japan's Financial Services Authority solicits opinions on a new framework for crypto asset regulation

According to online reports, the Financial Services Administration released a discussion document entitled "Review of the Framework of Cryptographic Asset-Related Systems", inviting the general public to express their opinions before the May 10 deadline. Since July 2024, the agency has been reviewing the system based on the actual situation of recent crypto asset transactions. This publication summarizes the results of this verification. The Financial Services Administration attaches importance to "creating a balanced environment that protects users while promoting innovation" and intends to use the opinions collected this time as reference material for future regulatory reviews. The document lists the scope of regulatory review, information disclosure and provision regulations, business regulations (travel rules, betting practices), market opening regulations and responses to insider trading as topics for discussion.
