US money market fund assets exceed US$7 trillion for the first time
According to online reports, according to data provided by Crane data, which has long studied the field of money market funds, the size of assets managed by U.S. money market funds increased by approximately US$91 billion in the week ended November 13, and the total size exceeded US$7 trillion for the first time. This is a milestone for the industry. Thanks to high and reliable yields, the industry's popularity among investors has soared. Ahead of the $7 trillion mark, the size of U.S. money market assets hit record highs for months in a row, refuting doubts about whether the industry will continue to be popular as Fed officials cut interest rates from 20-year highs. After U.S. policymakers cut interest rates by 50 basis points in September and another 25 basis points this month, investors continued to flock to money-market funds, mainly because money-market funds have higher yields than other instruments-especially bank deposits. Compared with banks, these funds tend to pass on the impact of low interest rates more slowly.
