U.S. election fever fades, users flee X and flock to Bluesky
Internet reports that the number of users of the U.S. social media platform Bluesky has surged as users flee X after Trump was elected the next U.S. president, and the imminent change in terms of service may complicate legal challenges facing the platform. Bluesky said on Thursday that it added about 2.5 million new users in the past week, bringing the total to more than 16 million. According to data from analytics firm SimilarWeb, after the news of Trump's victory in the presidential election broke, X received 46.5 million visitors in the United States on November 6, more than on any day in the past year and more than in recent months. The number is 38% higher. But more than 115,000 U.S. users have deactivated their X accounts, the most since Musk acquired the platform. Meanwhile, Bluesky attracted about 1.2 million visitors on November 6, surpassing the 950,000 of Meta's platform Threads.
