Chainalysis: Ransomware payments will drop 35% year-on-year in 2024 "
Online reported that on February 5, according to TheBlock, Chainalysis's 2025 Cryptographic Crime Report pointed out that ransomware payments in 2024 dropped by 35% year-on-year, from US$1.25 billion in 2023 to US$813 million. The report shows that the amount of extortion in the first half of the year once exceeded the same period in 2023, with a single extortion by Dark Angels organization reaching US$75 million. However, ransomware payments fell sharply in the second half of the year, causing the total for the whole year to fall.
