Is the stock market open on Columbus Day?

Matteo Colombo The U.S. stock market will operate normally on Monday’s Columbus Day federal holiday, while the bond markets will be closed as banks will be shuttered. The S&P 500 (SP500) rose +1.1% this week and crossed the 5,800 points marks in a historic first, as investors shrugged off Middle East tensions and a hotter-than-anticipated consumer inflation report and focused on positive quarterly results from big banks that kicked off the third-quarter earnings season. The Nasdaq Composite (COMP:IND) also climbed +1.1% this week, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) added +1.2%. U.S. commodities markets, including gold and WTI crude futures will be open for trading on Monday, and crypto trading never takes a day off – not even nights or weekends.
