Apple (AAPL) is currently in discussions with OpenAI and Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, regarding technical collaboration aimed at integrating more advanced AI capabilities into the next generation of iPhone. These discussions involve integrating OpenAI's technology into the upcoming iOS 18 operating system and potentially licensing Google's Gemini chatbot technology.
Although Apple had initial discussions with OpenAI earlier this year, there has been no further communication between the two parties since then. Currently, Apple seems to have not yet determined the final partner and may potentially collaborate with both OpenAI and Google.
The next generation of iPhone's operating system is expected to include several new features based on Apple's in-house large-scale language models, such as AI software capable of generating human-like voice messages. Additionally, Apple is considering introducing chatbot functionalities similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT, as well as other technologies from potential partners like Anthropic.
