ASIC closes more than 2,500 investment scams and phishing sites

Since July 2023, ASIC has shut down more than 2,500 investment scam and phishing sites, disrupting scam activity, including:
- 2,100 websites closed
- More than 400 websites are being shut down.
ASIC's investment scam and phishing website removal capabilities are part of the government's Fighting Scams initiative to stop scams and protect Australians from financial losses.。The initiative also supports the work of the National Anti-Fraud Centre (NASC), which became operational on 1 July 2023.。The National Anti-Fraud Center will coordinate government, law enforcement and the private sector in the fight against fraud.。
The scam websites smashed by ASIC include fake investment platforms, encrypted asset scam websites and scam websites posing as legitimate financial services companies.。
