BYD's "European Tour" Meets Friends Again

BYD and Fabaano Group formally signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation, through which the two sides will provide customized electric vehicle solutions and financing services to European customers, accelerating the decarbonization strategy and fleet electrification process。

On February 7, BYD and BNP Paribas (BNP Paribas) under the car rental and service company law of the Anno Group (ARVAL) formally signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding, marking the two sides of the strategic partnership.。The signing ceremony was held at BYD's global headquarters in Shenzhen and was attended by Michael Shu, Managing Director of BYD Europe, Alain Van Groenendael, CEO of ARVAL, and other representatives from both sides.。

The partnership aims to provide European customers with truly differentiated electric vehicle solutions and financing services, identify key areas for passenger vehicles, and jointly advise international and domestic corporate customers to accelerate decarbonization strategies and fleet electrification.。

According to the memorandum, the two sides will cooperate in the following three main areas:

  1. Rich product line: ARVAL will introduce BYD's electric vehicle brand, from passenger cars to light commercial vehicles (LCV) and other models, to further enrich the global automotive product line;
  2. Comprehensive solutions: The two parties will jointly provide European customers with electric mobility solutions that meet their emission reduction targets, such as a "package" of green solutions including electric vehicles, energy storage systems and solar systems.
  3. Optimize the service experience: Using BYD's extensive European dealer network to provide customers with high-quality localized services and excellent electric driving experience, ARVAL will be responsible for the back-office business of BYD Leasing。

More than that, ARVAL will also provide comprehensive support to fleet operators considering switching to electric vehicles, providing wall boxes and charging cards for each rental electric vehicle through ARVAL charging services。In addition, telematics services such as ARVAL Connect enable fleet managers to frequently check the car's mileage, thereby optimizing vehicle use。

Alain van Groenendael said: "The energy transition of the fleet must be driven by a collaborative ecology of different participants, and BYD's advanced technological innovation and our expertise in leasing will make this partnership the icing on the cake.。"

Michael Shu stressed: "By providing customers with high flexibility and quality service, BYD's cooperation with ARVAL will make the popularity of electric vehicles just around the corner.。"

In fact, ARVAL is no stranger to Chinese manufacturers, having previously established partnerships with brands such as MG, Aviv and Geely, and providing customers with managed and charged electric vehicles is an important part of its overall electrification goals。By 2025, ARVAL aims to have 350,000 pure electric vehicles, and today there are 166,000。

BYD launched its electric car range in Europe in 2022 and now offers five models in 19 countries across the continent.。In 2023, BYD's global sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 3 million。Not long ago, BYD also announced a separate partnership with Shell's Raizen for the charging business in the Brazilian market.。

Through this cooperation, BYD will be able to better understand the needs and trends of the European market, which will further promote its localization in the European market and bring more business opportunities and mutual benefit to both sides.。
