FCA bans former financial adviser over involvement in criminal activity
The Financial Supervisory Authority has banned Christopher Vincent Summers from performing any function in relation to regulated activities.。
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has issued a ban on Christopher Vincent Summers.。
The order of the Financial Conduct Authority prohibits Christopher Vincent Summers from performing any function relating to any regulated activity carried out by an authorized person, an exempt person or an exempt professional firm。
Between March 20, 2014 and April 16, 2019, Summers was involved in criminal activity while performing financial advisory duties as a licensed person at an authorized firm.。
At Manchester's Minshire Street Crown Court on 18 November 2020, Summers pleaded guilty to one count of fraud by abuse of office and two counts of fraud by false representation, each involving three victims.。
On 21 December 2020, Summers was sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to pay a £120 victim surcharge.。
In the opinion of the FCA, Summers is not a fit and proper person to perform any function relating to any regulated activity carried out by an authorized person, an exempted person or an exempted professional firm。
According to the FCA, Summers' conviction shows a clear and serious lack of honesty and integrity, making him unfit to engage in regulated activities.。In making this decision, the Authority considered all relevant circumstances, including the relevance and significance of the offence and the seriousness of the risk Mr Summers poses to consumer and UK financial system confidence.。
The EAA considers that the imposition of a restraining order is appropriate to achieve its objectives of consumer protection and integrity。
