Singapore Monetary Authority appoints Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat as board member

Minister Chee's term of office is three years, from 1 June 2024 to 31 May 2027.

Singapore's financial regulator, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), has announced the appointment of Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance, Chee Fong Tat, to its Board of Directors. MAS has also reappointed five existing members of the MAS Board.

Minister Chee's appointment is for a three-year term from June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2027.

Heng Swee Keat, Alvin Tan, Peter Ong, Deborah Ong and Ng Wai King will be reappointed to the MAS Board of Directors for a three-year term from June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2027. Prof. Tan Chorh Chuan will resign from the MAS Board of Directors at the end of his term on May 31, 2024. Prof. Tan Chorh Chuan will resign from the MAS Board of Directors at the end of his term on 31 May 2024. Since his appointment to this position in June 2012, he has contributed actively in Board discussions and as a key member of the Board Risk Committee.

Lawrence Wong, Chairman of the MAS Board, said:

“We are very grateful to Prof. Tan for his contribution to the MAS Board over the past 12 years. His clarity of thought and ability to address complex issues with a systems perspective has been a great asset to the MAS Board. He has provided useful inputs that have contributed to more robust decision making and enabled MAS to build stronger organizational capabilities in technology and risk management.”
