According to the latest Savings and Investment Barometer published by the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF), more than half of French retail investors said they were uneasy when assessing the impact of investment fees on earnings.。Yet the impact could be enormous。In addition, the recent "mystery shopping" campaign conducted by the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF) for branches shows that information about fees is not systematic and often fragmented.。

The AMF is closely monitoring the transparency of fees for financial products and services and is urging professionals to make fees clearer and easier to understand for retail investors.。It concluded that the terminology used should be harmonized.。

AMF is publishing a professional guide for investment service providers and financial investment advisers with a detailed glossary of terms。It invites professionals to adopt the suggested terminology the next time any document informing customers of costs and expenses is updated。

Retail investors can also read an overview of the fees charged by different types of funds (stocks, bonds, diversified funds, ETFs, employee savings plans) and the fees charged by investment service providers for stock market orders, which AMF publishes annually in its Household Savings Observatory.。
