Google to invest $3 billion in data centres
Google intends to build $3 billion worth of data centres in Indiana and Virginia.
Alphabet, the parent company of Google (NASDAQ: GOOGL), has announced a $3 billion investment to establish a data center campus in the state of Indiana and to expand its existing facilities in Virginia.
The surge in artificial intelligence applications has increased the demand for cloud computing, leading major tech companies to expand their data center capacities.
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) has pledged to invest $11 billion in its cloud computing division to build new data centers in Indiana, creating 1,000 new job opportunities.
Google will invest $2 billion in its Fort Wayne location in Indiana and expand three existing data centers in Virginia with a $1 billion investment.
On April 26th, the company established the "Google AI Opportunity Fund" worth $75 million to train Americans in artificial intelligence skills.
