Musk's xAI partners with Super Micro to push AI forward

Dell and Supermicro will assemble server cabinets for xAI, and xAI plans to set up an AI factory with Nvidia。

On June 19, Elon Musk announced that Dell (DELL) and Super Micro Computer Inc. (SMCI) will assemble server racks for his new venture xAI. Additionally, xAI is collaborating with NVIDIA (NVDA) to build an "AI factory," planning to purchase 300,000 Blackwell architecture-based B200 GPUs to enhance the performance of its chatbot Grok.

In May, Musk revealed that xAI's supercomputer Gigafactory of Compute, in partnership with Oracle (ORCL), is expected to launch in the fall of 2025. This supercomputer will utilize 100,000 H100 GPUs, quadrupling the world's largest GPU cluster.

On July 2, Super Micro's stock rose by 3.06%, closing at $837.17, with a slight after-hours dip of 0.08%. Year-to-date, Super Micro's stock has risen by 193.28%, surpassing NVIDIA's 154.66%.

Bank of America Securities noted that Super Micro's liquid-cooled servers are crucial in the AI era, effectively addressing processor overheating issues and reducing air conditioning costs, demonstrating Super Micro's technological competitiveness and market adaptability.
