In addition, Lei Jun also had a warm handshake and exchange with his old friend, Wang Chuanfu, the chairman of BYD. Lei Jun stated that over the past decade, BYD has been a very important partner of Xiaomi smartphones, and now Xiaomi's car is as well.
It is understood that the 18th Beijing International Automobile Exhibition (2024) is held from April 25 to May 4, with the theme "New Era, New Cars." In terms of the exhibitor lineup, many new forces in China's new energy vehicles are fully prepared, including Ideal Auto, Deep Blue Auto, Zhiji Auto, Howbao, iCAR, Ji Ke, Ji Yue, Lingpao, Feifan Auto, Yuanhang Auto, Dayun New Energy, Ji Shi Auto, Chuangwei, and others, with many new energy brands making their debut at the Beijing Auto Show for the first time. Among them, Huawei's HarmonyOS and Xiaomi, which are attending the Beijing Auto Show for the first time, are undoubtedly the biggest highlights.
On the HarmonyOS side, Huawei's cooperation with Seres on the Ask M5 series has attracted a lot of attention at the Beijing Auto Show. On April 22nd, before the Beijing Auto Show, Lei Jun previewed on Weibo that he would introduce Xiaomi's car production capacity and delivery plan in detail at the show. Currently, the production capacity and delivery speed of Xiaomi SU7 are rapidly increasing, with the standard and Max versions already delivered ahead of schedule. Interestingly, in this Weibo post, Lei Jun also advertised for various "competitors." He said that if users are really in a hurry to buy a car, there are many good domestic new energy vehicles to consider, such as Zhijie S7, NIO ET5, XPeng P7 series, etc.
At this morning's press conference, the suspense Lei Jun had set was finally revealed: as of April 24th, the number of orders for Xiaomi SU7 exceeded 75,723 units, with 5,781 units delivered in 28 days since the launch. Lei Jun expressed his hope that with 15 to 20 years of effort, Xiaomi's car can be built into one of the top five car manufacturers in the world.
