Hong Kong SFC warns over suspicious investment products
Hong Kong SFC reminds the public of several dubious investment products, namely "Free Guy," "Gold Scalper" and "Gold Champ"。
Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) today issued a warning to the public about several dubious investment products - namely, "Free Guy," "Gold Scalper" and "Gold Champ" - that involve investing in gold contracts for difference (CFD) and automated trading systems for foreign exchange (Forex).。
These products have not been approved by the SFC for sale to the public in Hong Kong and are suspected of violating the Securities and Futures Ordinance.。
The SFC notes that these products are advertised through different social media accounts or channels to attract investors to invest in them and in some cases claim to provide high returns。In one of the cases, a report was received of a problem with the withdrawal of funds.。
These products and related information were placed on the SFC's Suspicious Investment Products Alert List on February 19, 2024.。
SFC warns public not to invest in any non-SFC approved investment products。As these products are not regulated by the SFC, investors have no or very limited protection and may lose their entire investment。The SFC again reminded the public to be cautious and skeptical about "too good to be true" investment opportunities and to be vigilant when making investment decisions.。
The SFC will continue its investigation and will take all appropriate action in relation to any offence.。
