Huawei Pura 70 Launch: Telescopic Camera, PanGu Large Model, and Other Black Technologies Arrive
This is also the first time that the Huawei P series has fully aligned with the Mate series in terms of pricing after the brand upgrade.
April 18th, without any prior notice, Huawei's official Weibo account suddenly announced the "Pioneer Plan" for the Pura 70 series, marking the first time the Huawei P series was launched without a press conference. It went on sale immediately upon release and was sold out in seconds.
According to the announcement, this Pioneer Plan will be conducted in two batches. The first batch, including the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra and Pura 70 Pro, officially went on sale at 10:08 today. The second batch, consisting of the Huawei Pura 70 Pro+ and Huawei Pura 70, will go on sale on April 22nd. Huawei plans to first release the high-end models to the market, promoting a wave of scarcity marketing, and then launch the standard and Pro+ versions to capture both reputation and sales.
In terms of pricing, the Pura 70 Ultra and Pura 70 Pro models that have already participated in the "Pioneer Plan" have a minimum price of 6,499 yuan for the Pura 70 Pro, with the highest version of the Pura 70 Ultra reaching a price of 10,999 yuan. The Pura 70 version, which will go on sale on April 22nd, is the entry-level model, priced at 5,499 yuan.
In terms of appearance, all models of the Huawei Pura 70 this time adopt a triangular lens module, which is very eye-catching. The front features a centered punch-hole design. In addition to the Pura 70 having a 6.6-inch screen with a square frame, a peak brightness of 2500 nits, and a 120Hz variable refresh rate, the other three models all have a 6.8-inch screen with an FHD+ resolution. The Pura 70 introduces new colors such as rose red and ice crystal blue; the Pro version introduces a new color, royal purple; the Pro+ version introduces a new color, light woven silver; and the Ultra version introduces new colors, mocha brown and chant green, focusing on a dazzling appearance.
In terms of photography, this model, known as the "strongest camera phone on the planet," supports ultra-high-speed flash photography and ultra-concentrated macro telephoto functions across the entire series. The Pura 70 Ultra, in particular, is equipped with an innovative "ultra-concentrated telescopic camera" this time, with a 1-inch large main sensor that can actively extend and retract during shooting, accompanied by a proprietary mechanical sound, giving it a feel similar to a DSLR camera, which is a major highlight of this new model. The other two lenses are a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an F2.2 aperture and a 50-megapixel ultra-concentrated macro telephoto camera with an F2.1 aperture, supporting 3.5x optical zoom, OIS optical image stabilization, and autofocus.
In terms of battery life, the Pura 70 is equipped with a 4900mAh battery, supporting 66W wired fast charging, 50W wireless fast charging, and 7.5W wireless reverse charging. The Pura 70 Pro and Pura 70 Pro+ are equipped with a 5050mAh battery, supporting 100W wired fast charging, 80W wireless fast charging, and 20W wireless reverse charging. The Pura 70 Ultra is equipped with a 5200mAh battery, supporting 100W wired fast charging, 80W wireless fast charging, and 20W wireless reverse charging, with full configuration.
The basic IP68 dust and water resistance is a given, and Huawei has once again introduced dual-satellite communication and Xuanwu tempered Kunlun glass in the Pro+ and Ultra versions.
It is worth noting that AI has become the biggest selling point of the Pura 70 series, with the entire series supporting AI gesture control, intelligent payment, and more intelligent applications such as AI elimination and AI cloud enhancement through the integration of the PanGu large model.
On August 29 last year, Huawei's terminal first launched the "HUAWEI Mate 60 Pro Pioneer Plan," going on sale with the Huawei Mate 60 Pro model without holding a mobile phone new product launch conference, and achieving impressive sales. According to Counterpoint data, Huawei's global mobile phone sales achieved a triple-digit increase in the fourth quarter of 2023, making it the only brand among the top ten mobile phone manufacturers to achieve this.
According to media reports, although the Pura 70 has a much more sufficient allocation than the Mate 60 series, the overall supply is still tight, and it still takes time for the stock to go from the general agent to the stores. Currently, most smart life halls and authorized experience stores do not have stock and can only be pre-ordered.
In previous years, the starting prices of the Huawei P series and Mate series would be significantly different, but the Pura 70 has canceled the 8+256GB configuration, with the starting price being the same as the Mate 60, both at 5,499 yuan. This is also the first time that the Huawei P series brand has upgraded and fully aligned with the Mate series in terms of pricing after the price increase.
Analysts believe that the Huawei Mate 60 series has continued to attract and meet strong market demand, becoming one of the few bright spots at the beginning of this year. With the upcoming launch of the Huawei Pura 70 series, Huawei is expected to further reclaim its previously lost market share and once again change the mobile phone industry landscape.
Kuo Ming-chi (Ming-Chi Kuo) estimates that the series will ship between 13 and 15 million units, a year-on-year increase of about 230%. Research reports from well-known domestic securities firms also unanimously believe that the Pura 70 series is expected to become a "hit" in the first half of the year, driving a new round of opportunities for the mobile phone industry chain.
