Intel (stock code: INTC) has announced its latest artificial intelligence (AI) chip, Gaudi 3, expected to engage in fierce competition with Nvidia's latest chips.

Gaudi 3 chip released

On April 9th, Intel unveiled the Gaudi 3 chip, its newest artificial intelligence processor. The Gaudi 3 chip significantly surpasses Nvidia's H100 GPU in performance and energy efficiency, capable of running AI models at lower power consumption with a speed increase of over 1.5 times.

Configuration and Application

The Gaudi 3 chip offers various configurations, including a bundle of eight Gaudi 3 chips integrated on a single board or cards that can be inserted into existing systems. The chip has been tested on Meta's open-source Llama model and Abu Dhabi-supported Falcon model, suitable for training or deploying AI models including stable diffusion or OpenAI's Whisper speech recognition model.

Market Competition and Cooperation

Despite Nvidia holding approximately 80% of the AI chip market share, Intel's new chip is expected to provide competitive pricing and innovative open integrated network chip technology. Intel has collaborated with companies such as Dell, HP, and Supermicro, aiming to provide Gaudi 3 chips to customers in the third quarter.
