The PS5 Pro is expected to be announced as early as September 26th, with a comprehensive upgrade in performance
The prevailing opinion is that Sony will unveil this product at the Tokyo Game Show on September 26th.
On August 26th, developers at the Cologne Game Fair revealed to the media that they have obtained specifications for the PS5 Pro. The new PS5 will significantly enhance the performance of games made with Unreal Engine 5.
According to multiple media reports, ray tracing will be one of the key focus areas for the PS5 Pro. The internal code for the PS5 Pro is Trinity, which translates to "trinity" in Chinese. Under the Trinity code, game developers can label games with significantly enhanced graphics as "Trinity Enhanced." The new ray tracing architecture of the PS5 Pro will increase speed by an average of 2-3 times, and even up to 4 times at peak.
Sony is also expected to introduce a DLSS-like upscaling and image enhancement technology similar to RTX graphics cards in the PS5 Pro, named Playstation Spectral Super Resolution, abbreviated as PSSR. With the support of PSSR technology, the frame rate of PS5 Pro games will be more stable, and the image quality will also be improved to a certain extent, providing players with a more refined and smooth gaming experience.
In terms of hardware, the PS5 Pro will also see dual upgrades to its GPU and CPU. The GPU rendering speed related to game graphics will be 45% faster than the standard PS5; in overclocking mode, the CPU frequency related to game operation will also increase by 10%, reaching 3.85 GHz, significantly outperforming the standard PS5. At the same time, the PS5 Pro is also equipped with a customized machine learning architecture that supports 300 TOPS of 8-bit computing, used to drive PSSR technology.
The memory bandwidth of the PS5 Pro will also be increased to 576GB/s, a 28% increase compared to the standard PS5's 448GB/s. The system memory that games can call will also be increased, from 12.5 GB of the standard PS5 to 13.7 GB, giving developers more room to maneuver.
Currently, according to reports, the game developers for the PS5 Pro do not all come from top studios such as Naughty Dog or Sucker Punch. Sony has also revealed the parameters of the PS5 Pro to various small game developers, so that when the PS5 Pro is released, all games on the market can be optimized.
After the parameters were leaked, the market also made various guesses about the announcement time of the PS5 Pro. The current mainstream view is that Sony will announce this product at the Tokyo Game Show on September 26th.
After a long absence, Sony suddenly announced its return to the Tokyo Game Show this summer, causing quite a stir. Although the market is not clear about the specific plans of the company at the Tokyo Game Show, the fact that Sony announced its attendance means that the company has some important news to share.
There is other evidence that Sony plans to release the PS5 Pro in September. For example, the previously released PS4 Pro was also released in September and then officially launched in November. Game industry analyst William R. Aguilar said that the reason Sony is willing to do this is that this timing can make the new gaming console just in time for the profitable holiday shopping season, and users will also be more willing to experience the new Sony gaming ecosystem at this time.
If Sony really rushes to announce the PS5 Pro before October, it can be foreseen that the price of the current PS5 on the market will take a big plunge first.
