SFC confirms extension of claim period for Maxim fund investors
Hong Kong's Court of First Instance extends deadline for claims by Mercer Fund investors to 30 November 2023。
The Court of First Instance has approved an application by the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (SFC) to extend the deadline for investors to file claims for investment schemes operated by Maxim Capital Limited and Maxim Trader (Maxim Fund) in Hong Kong to 30 November 2023.。
In June 2022, after the SFC initiated legal proceedings under section 213 of the Securities and Futures Ordinance, the court ordered payments from eligible investors in Maxim Capital Limited and Maxim Trader (Maxim Fund) and set 23 July 2022 as the deadline for investors to file claims.。
The SFC continued to receive enquiries from investors who first made claims after the original cut-off date。In view of this, the SFC, after considering and balancing the interests of various stakeholders, applied to the court to extend the deadline for investors to make claims.。
According to the latest order of the court, investors who are aware of the Maxim Fund in Hong Kong and have invested in the Fund but have not made a claim to the SFC on or before 23 July 2022 should make a claim and submit details of the investment to the SFC no later than 5: 30 p.m. on 30 November 2023.。
According to a recent court order, after the extension of the deadline, any claim will not be entertained。
