Swiss FINMA issues 950 licenses
As at 30 June 2023, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) had granted 950 licences to portfolio managers and trustees, during which a total of 1,749 licence applications were received.。
As at 30 June 2023, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) had granted 950 licences to portfolio managers and trustees, during which a total of 1,749 licence applications were received.。
The 950 licenses can be broken down as follows:
- By the end of 2022, 1,699 licensing applications had been received for 931 institutions (888 portfolio managers and 43 trustees), of which 8 were licensed to both portfolio managers and trustees.。
Of the 50 licence applications received since the beginning of 2023, 10 institutions have received both portfolio manager and trustee licences.。
FINMA explains its regulatory model in its guidance, with a particular emphasis on regulators regulating licensed portfolio managers and trustees in a risk-based manner.。To this end, they are developing a rating system so that they can apply regulatory measures to each regulated agency commensurate with the level of risk assessed.。
