Tesla has announced an agreement with Intersect Power to provide a total of 15.3GWh of Megapacks for its solar and storage projects. Each Megapack has a capacity of 3.9MWh, amounting to approximately 4,000 units.

This agreement makes Intersect Power one of the largest Megapack buyers and operators worldwide. It is expected to deploy nearly 10GWh of large-scale energy storage systems by the end of 2027.

Previously, Tesla supplied 2.4GWh of Megapacks for Intersect Power's projects. In the new order, more than half of the Megapacks will be used in four projects in California and Texas, expected to be operational by the end of 2027. The remaining units will be used in subsequent projects coming online between 2028 and 2030.

Mike Snyder, Senior Director of Energy at Tesla, emphasized that the combination of Intersect Power's expertise and Tesla's technology can quickly and significantly enhance grid resilience and support the integration of renewable energy.

Sheldon Kimber, CEO of Intersect Power, stated that this collaboration will significantly advance the company's renewable energy generation plans, tripling its scale over the next three years.

In the second quarter of 2024, Tesla's energy storage deployments reached 9.4GWh, a 157% year-over-year increase and approximately 132% quarter-over-quarter growth, setting a new record for single-quarter storage installations.
