Xiaomi Auto questioned as sales slip?Group public relations executives respond!
According to the latest weekly sales chart released by Li Auto, Xiaomi Auto only sold 2,100 units, ranking last on the list.
Recently, Xiaomi Auto was questioned by the outside world about its declining sales trend, based on a sales ranking released by Li Auto.
According to Li Auto's 2024 week 23 (June 3-June 9) sales ranking of new force brands in the Chinese market, Xiaomi Auto's sales were only 2,100 units, lower than last week's 2,192 units. The sales data of Xiaomi Auto puts it at the bottom of the list, far from the top Li Auto's sales of 10,900.
If the scope is expanded to all new energy brands, Xiaomi Auto does not even qualify for the list, after all, the top ranked BYD's weekly sales exceed 50,000.
As a result, some media began to hype up the topic of Xiaomi Auto's continuous decline in sales.
In response, Wang Hua, General Manager of the Public Relations Department of Xiaomi Group, said, "Since the launch of the Xiaomi SU7, everyone has been paying close attention. Almost every few weeks, there will be media reports of declining sales, and many friends will also come to inquire with concern."
Wang Hua said, "Our current number of lock orders is steadily increasing every day. As a new automotive brand, we currently only have a single model, and the number of delivery centers nationwide is very limited. We can still make it to the delivery volume ranking every week, so the delivery pressure is of course enormous. As previously announced, double shift production has already started in June. Based on the current delivery data, we are confident that the monthly delivery this month will exceed 10,000."
Previously, Xiaomi Auto stated that starting from June, the Xiaomi Auto factory will officially start dual shift production to increase production capacity, with a target of delivering over 10,000 units per month in June.
Xiaomi Auto factory started double shifts in June, but sales (delivery data) declined, which is also a key factor in external questioning. Regarding this, Wang Hua stated that the acceleration of delivery also needs to consider factors such as logistics and the increase in the number of stores.
In May this year, Xiaomi Auto delivered a total of 8630 new cars, an increase of 22.3% compared to the previous month. According to Xiaomi Auto's previously announced order volume, there are still nearly 70,000 vehicles waiting to be delivered.
Some netizens believe that the production capacity of Xiaomi SU7 needs to be further increased, and it is still conservative now. Wang Hua responded, "The increase in automobile production capacity requires the coordination of the entire industry chain, as well as the connection with logistics and delivery centers. It is not something that can be explained in a single sentence."
According to incomplete statistics, there are over 40 listed companies among Xiaomi Auto suppliers. In addition, it is reported that after the official announcement of car manufacturing, Xiaomi Group and its investment institutions have gradually invested in nearly 100 upstream and downstream automotive supply chain enterprises.
Xiaomi Auto's entire vehicle supply chain has already reached a considerable scale, and the increase in production capacity will inevitably require the cooperation of all suppliers. Ramping up production capacity is not an easy task, for Xiaomi and other car manufacturers as well. No wonder Wang Hua said that increasing production capacity is not something that can be explained in a single sentence.
However, after all, there are still 70,000 Xiaomi SU7s waiting to be delivered, and Xiaomi is naturally trying every means to increase production capacity. In addition to announcing the start of double shifts in the factory from June, Xiaomi Auto also stated that in order to accelerate the efficiency of matching orders with production, Xiaomi Auto has decided to shorten the hesitation period for large order locks from 7 days to 3 days (72 hours) starting from 0:00 on June 5th.
Xiaomi Auto promises to deliver a minimum of 100,000 units by 2024 and a sprint delivery of 120,000 units.
