US consumer confidence drops to seven-month low "
Internet reported that U.S. consumer confidence fell to a seven-month low in early February, and the initial value of the University of Michigan consumer confidence index in February fell 3.3 points to 67.8. The data fell short of expectations of all economists surveyed. As U.S. President Donald Trump moves forward with tariff measures, the inflation outlook faces numerous uncertainties. If all tariffs on major U.S. trading partners take effect and lead to higher prices, it could drag on consumer spending. The survey showed that the shopping boom indicator for large items dropped by 12 percentage points from the previous month. In addition, overall confidence fell across all political factions. The current situation indicator fell to a three-month low of 68.7 from 74; the forecast indicator fell to 67.3, the lowest since November 2023. Indicators of personal financial expectations fell to lows since October 2023 in early February. Indicators of economic prospects for the coming year also fell.
