Insider: British government requires Apple to provide access to encrypted accounts "
On February 7, according to the Washington Post, people familiar with the matter revealed that British security officials had asked Apple to set up a "back door" to allow the government to obtain all content uploaded to iCloud by users. The UK Home Office has issued a "Technical Capability Notice" to Apple requesting it to provide relevant access rights. Reports say Apple may choose to stop providing encrypted storage services in the UK rather than violate the security commitments of its global users. Currently, neither Apple nor the UK Home Office has commented on this. In January this year, British regulators launched an investigation into Apple and Google's operating systems, app stores and browsers.
