The AI arms race among the four U.S. stocks escalates again: capital expenditures will exceed $320 billion this year

According to online reports, Microsoft, Meta, Google's parent company Alphabet, and Amazon have recently released performance reports for the last quarter of 2024 and disclosed guidance for 2025. Overall, the capital expenditures of the four giants will continue to rise in 2025, which means that the AI competition will become more intense. Such fierce "burning money" plans, coupled with China companies 'DeepSeek showing another lower-cost AI route, have also made Wall Street increasingly worried about whether these technology giants can get enough returns. According to reports from Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Meta, the total capital expenditure of the four giants in 2024 will be US$246 billion, soaring 63% from US$151 billion in 2023. This year's total capital expenditure may exceed US$320 billion.
