US Treasury Secretary Basent: No one believes that tariffs on China can be sustained

Internet reports that on April 14 local time, U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessant set off for a visit to Buenos Aires, Argentina. After ending his meeting with Argentine President Millay on the first day, Bessent said in an exclusive interview with Bloomberg that the current tariff level against China is unsustainable and a "major agreement" will be reached in the future. He also said that negotiations with some allied countries on reciprocal U.S. tariffs are advancing rapidly, and hinted that other countries should enter into trade negotiations with the United States as soon as possible. In an interview, Besent responded to the current U.S. tariffs on China, saying that the current tariff figures are very high and are not a problem that can be laughed at."I don't think anyone thinks they are sustainable, and no one wants them to remain." He said,"There's a big deal to be done at some point in the future." (Caixin)
