Apple may focus on AI strategy by creating an enhanced AI AppStore

Apple (AAPL) is expected to launch a brand new AI App Store at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). In addition to introducing its own AI products, Apple is also continuing to collaborate with other tech companies to enrich its AI ecosystem.

Ben Reitzes, the Technology Research Director at Melius Research, suggests that Apple is likely to lay the groundwork for this new generation AI App Store in June and disclose how consumers can access AI apps from various vendors. He believes that Apple has the capability to replicate its past success in establishing industry-leading online stores and notes that Apple has successfully convinced many industry leaders to develop apps or take corresponding actions.

Reitzes cites founder Steve Jobs' persuasion of record companies to join the iTunes Store, with the concept of one dollar per song, as an example, indicating that today's Apple will replicate this successful model. He points out that the App Store model for the iPhone is relevant to this, as Apple successfully persuaded many developers to join this ecosystem.

Reitzes predicts that Apple will announce at WWDC how consumers can purchase AI apps from the App Store, while also introducing its own AI services, AI assistants, and an upgraded version of Siri. At that time, there may also be a preview of how AI will be integrated into Apple's various services.

Apple has previously negotiated with other tech giants, including Google, with the aim of jointly creating an AI-specific App Store. In fact, Apple has previously discussed collaboration with companies like Baidu to provide generative AI services in China. Therefore, these negotiations are likely to have extensively discussed the theme of establishing an AI App Store.

Apple is also in talks with Google to adopt Search Giant's Gemini AI to enhance Siri. Like many other AI services, Google Gemini is already accessible through applications on the App Store. If Apple indeed establishes an AI App Store, incorporating Gemini AI into it should not pose significant difficulties.
