High Court allows FCA to suspend WealthTek LLP case

The UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will focus its investigation into John Dance's alleged criminal offences after a civil suit brought by the authority for serious regulatory breaches was suspended for 12 months.。
On 1 March 2024, on an application by the FCA, High Court Judge H.E. Baumgartner granted the FCA a 12-month stay in its civil litigation case against Dance and WealthTek LLP。
The investigation into alleged criminal offences by Mr WealthTek LLP and Dance continues.。As a result of the progress made in the investigation, the FCA has focused its resources on cases of alleged criminal offences.。FCA still has option to reopen civil case。
The restraining order issued against Mr. Dance on 8 November 2023 remains in force。The purpose of the order is to preserve the assets so that they can be used for future confiscation orders, which can only be made after a criminal conviction。
Special management of WealthTek LLP ordered by the High Court on 6 April 2023 also remains in force。The British Horseracing Authority remains responsible for matters relating to Mr Dance's involvement in horse racing activities.。
