HUAWEI's HIMA Unit Plugs Into NIO‘s Charging Network

On July 17, NIO Power opens its charging network to Huawei HIMA vehicles, allowing HIMA users locate and use NIO Power charging stations nationwide.

On July 17, NIO officially announced that NIO Power and Harmony lntelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) have reached a cooperation agreement for charging services. NIO Power's charging network will be open to HIMA vehicles, including AITO, LUXEED, and STELATO.

According to the agreement, starting from the effective date, HarmonyOS Drive users can locate and use NIO Power charging stations across the country via the HIMA APP, Wenjie APP, as well as the in-car systems of AITO, LUXEED, and STRLATO vehicles. This cooperation aims to significantly upgrade the charging experience and efficiency.

On July 16 (EDT), NIO's US stock price surged by 5.83%. On July 17 (UTC), NIO's shares also experienced a substantial increase on the HK Stock Exchange and the SG Exchange, with a rise of 3.7% and 4.27% respectively.

NIO's battery swap business has already covered 240 prefecture-level cities across China and is open to all industries, with over 80% of the electricity services provided to non-NIO users.

In China, NIO Power has established 2,443 battery swap stations (including 809 highway swap stations), 3,904 charging stations, and 22,822 charging piles, achieving an average daily availability rate of 99.72%, making NIO the automotive brand with the largest charging pile network in the country.

Overseas, NIO has set up 50 battery swap stations, 19 charging stations, and connected over 600,000 third-party piles across five European countries: Norway, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

NIO has been committed to improving its battery swap network in the domestic market. So far, two systems have been planned: one exclusive to NIO's mid-to-high-end models and targeting NIO users; and the other, created in partnership with multiple brands, is aimed at the mass market, including commercial vehicles.

For NIO, it has been expanding its "Battery Swap Alliance" relentlessly. Since November 2023, NIO has announced battery swap cooperation with HIMA, Changan Automobile, Geely Auto, Chery Automobile, JAC Group, Lotus, GAC Group, and FAW Group, continuously growing its alliance.

Previously, Ma Lin, Assistant Vice President of Brand and Communications at NIO, revealed that NIO Power will continue to build numerous charging piles this year in addition to battery swap stations.

Most of the battery swap stations built this year will also be integrated with charging facilities to serve users of all brands, including HIMA.

NIO Power, founded in May 2017, is a subsidiary of NIO responsible for building infrastructure such as battery swap stations and charging stations. On May 31, the company received a strategic investment of 1.5 billion yuan from the Wuhan Municipal Government Investment Fund, marking its first external investment.

According to the patent information on Aiqicha, NIO Power has applied for 65 patents, including invention patents, design patents, and utility model patents, with the majority being invention patents. Nearly 20 of these are related to charging, including charging piles, charging seats, and DC charging devices, most of which have been granted.

Previously known as "HUAWEI Smart Selection", HIMA is one of HUAWEI's cooperation models with other automakers, officially upgraded to "HIMA" in November 2023.

Currently, HarmonyOS Drive brands include AITO (in cooperation with SERES), LUXEED (in cooperation with Chery), and STELATO (in cooperation with BAIC). According to data released by CnEVPost, AITO M5, AITO M7, AITO M9, and LUXEED S7 delivered a total of 46,141 vehicles in June this year, a 50.9% increase from May.

Additionally, HUAWEI plans to collaborate with JAC Motors to create "Zunjie" Auto, targeting ultra-luxury brands like Maybach and Rolls-Royce, with vehicle prices expected to exceed 1 million yuan and sales starting in 2025.
