U.S. prosecutors say shift in Justice Department's cryptocurrency policy will not affect case against Do Kwon

Internet reports that U.S. prosecutors said they had no plans to change the charges against Terraform Labs founder Do Kwon based on an earlier memorandum from Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. Blanche said in the memorandum that the Justice Department will no longer take enforcement actions against cryptocurrency companies unless under special circumstances. The court postponed the trial date from the original January 26, 2026 to February 17, 2026. The next pre-trial meeting in the case is scheduled to be held on June 12, 2025. Do Kwon currently faces multiple charges, including commodity fraud, securities fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy to launder money. If convicted on all charges, Do Kwon could face up to 130 years in prison. Earlier this year, Kwon pleaded not guilty to the charges in a New York court shortly after being extradited to the United States from Montenegro.
