Fed Williams: Trump tariffs could push inflation to 4%

Federal Reserve Williams warned that Trump's tariffs would cause U.S. inflation to soar to as much as 4% this year, push up unemployment and hit economic growth amid "widespread" uncertainty, Internet reported. He also said he expected economic growth to "slow significantly from last year, possibly just under 1%," while the unemployment rate could rise to 4.5%-5% from the current 4.2%. Williams 'pessimistic assessment comes as U.S. financial markets have been hit in the past week by Trump's announcement of ultra-protectionist trade policies, which Trump has only partially withdrawn.
