AWS to invest €7.8bn in German cloud infrastructure
Amazon AWS has announced that it will invest €7.8bn ($8.44bn) in Germany to build a cloud computing infrastructure designed specifically for Europe.
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) Web Services (AWS) announced plans to invest €7.8 billion (approximately $8.44 billion) in Germany to establish cloud computing infrastructure specifically designed for Europe. Last year, AWS announced its intention to store data in the European Union to ensure data privacy for highly regulated enterprises, governments, and customers.
The company stated that it will open multiple data centers in the state of Brandenburg, Germany, by the end of 2025, which will be accessible to all customers. This new investment is expected to sustain an average of 2,800 full-time jobs annually for local businesses in Germany.
Last week, AWS announced its assistance to the German branch of Spanish telecommunications company (NYSE: TEF) in migrating one million 5G users to its cloud platform later this month.
