Ford Q2 Sales Inch Up 1%, Electric Vehicle Sales Surge Over 60%

Ford's second quarter sales were the best performance since 2019, with a total of 308920 units, a 1% increase from the same period last year.

Ford's second quarter sales were the best performance since 2019, with a total of 308,920 units, a 1% increase from the same period last year.

The sales of trucks performed well, with a year-on-year increase of 5%. The sales of F series trucks reached 199,463 units.

In terms of electric vehicles, sales in the second quarter were 23,957 units, an increase of 61%. Among them, the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning have attracted a large number of new customers. The sales of hybrid vehicles reached 53,822 units, an increase of 56%, setting the best quarterly sales record since Ford launched its hybrid model.

Ford's competitor, General Motors, saw a sales growth of 0.6% in the second quarter, with a total sales of 696,086 vehicles, the highest quarterly sales since the fourth quarter of 2020.

Even though sales growth is not significant, Ford and General Motors still outperform market expectations. Automotive industry forecasting agencies Cox Automotive and Edmunds predict that overall market sales in the second quarter will remain largely unchanged from the same period last year.
