On May 8th, Yu Chengdong's Weibo certification information was updated to "Huawei Executive Director, Chairman of the Terminal BG, and Chairman of the Intelligent Car Solutions BU," and the certification of CEO of Huawei's Terminal BG was removed. With the promotion from CEO to Chairman, Yu has "upgraded."

Public records show that Yu Chengdong was born in 1969, graduated from Northwestern Polytechnical University with a bachelor's degree, obtained a master's degree from Tsinghua University, and joined Huawei in 1993. He has served as Director of 3G products, Vice President of Wireless Product Marketing, President of the Wireless Product Line, President of the European region, and President of Strategy and Marketing. In 2011, Yu Chengdong took over Huawei's terminal business, and during his tenure, the revenue of Huawei's terminal business grew from 160.1 billion yuan in 2012 to 482.9 billion yuan in 2020.

It is reported that the current CEO of Huawei's Terminal BG is He Gang. He Gang studied at the School of Electronic Engineering at Xidian University in 1991, and after graduating from the Master's program in Circuits and Systems Design at Xidian University in 1998, he joined Huawei's Wireless Network Product Line. He is also considered a veteran of Huawei. In 2012, He Gang seized the opportunity to switch to Huawei's mobile phones, serving as President of Huawei's Consumer BG Mobile Product, later as President of Huawei's Terminal Mobile Product Line, and Chief Operating Officer of Huawei's Terminal BG. On the afternoon of April 30th, Huawei internally released a personnel adjustment document, announcing Yu Chengdong's appointment as the Chairman of the Terminal BG. He Gang, the former Chief Operating Officer of Huawei's Terminal BG, succeeded as the CEO of Huawei's Terminal BG.

Currently, in addition to the terminal field, Yu Chengdong has also focused a lot of energy on the automotive business. In November 2020, Yu Chengdong became the Director of the Intelligent Terminal and Intelligent Car Parts IRB. In the same year, he was responsible for integrating Huawei's Consumer BG with the Intelligent Car Solutions BU. Since then, Yu Chengdong has officially been in charge of promoting Huawei's smart selection vehicles and the development of the Intelligent Car BU business. Currently, the QJ brand, which Huawei cooperates with, has become a leader in new force sales. At the launch of the new QJ M5, Yu Chengdong revealed that from January 1st to April 22nd of this year, the cumulative sales of the entire QJ series reached 105,000 units, becoming the first among new forces.

Regarding the development of Huawei's terminal business, Yu Chengdong stated in his New Year's letter of 2024: "After ten years of 2C transformation, the terminal has taken a fast track for development and has survived tenaciously after multiple rounds of sanctions by Country A. Now, it has finally returned to the track. What does not kill us makes us stronger!
